Cabin Fever porter looks black, but when held up to the light it reveals a ruby colored body. The tan head is slim and fades pretty quickly, without leaving behind any lacing.
The aroma is sweet, with molasses and sweet malt providing most of the smell. A little bit of coffee and roasted malt come through.
What seemed like molasses in the aroma is pretty clearly maple in the flavor. I didn't ask anyone, but I'm pretty certain Cabin Fever was brewed with maple syrup. A good blast of maple comes up front, but before it can become too sweet a nice blend of coffee and chocolate come out. The coffee is much more noticeable, and it hangs around through the finish. Hints of roasted malt also.
The body is pretty big for the style. It needs more carbonation.
I liked this one a lot. My main complaint is that it needs more carbonation.
