Brown mahogany color with good lacing. Rich caramel on the nose gives way to a full bodied brown ale with maple candy and toffee maltiness with a touch of herbaceous hops to round it out. A very nice example of the style.

On tap at the brewpub.
Pours a clear medium brown color with an off-white head and average retention.
Aroma is your typical nuts, caramel, and mild roast. Not too much going on here.
Flavor is that of a rather weak but fairly tasty standard American brown ale. Roasted nuts and caramel are the main flavor notes I get. Simple.
"Light bodied" is correct in the description. In fact, it's pretty watery. Below average on the mouthfeel.
Overall, well, it's not offensive and it's pretty decent for a true session beer. I like a little more heft to this style though.

Tried on tap at the brewery, 3 Dec 2009.
Pours with a small tan head. Lightly carbonated. Clear reddish brown in color. Aroma is sweet, slight toffee, jammy. Starts lightly roasty sweet, some caramel. Slight bit of roasty bitterness in the middle and finish. Medium body, moderate alcohol. Slightly sour aftertaste, faintly bitter through the finish.

01/21/05- On tap at the HMB Brewery, part of a two day sampler binge.
Presentation- 4oz sampler (sampled 4 times over two days).
Appearance- Small white head, dark amber color, almost brown. Adequate lacing at best.
Smell- Mild smell of coffee and roasted nuts.
Tatse- Definite smokyness here. As well as nuts, and maybe some stale kind of coffee tastes.
Mouthfeel- Light carbonation, dry finish.
Drinkability- Not my pick for a great Brown Ale. Adequate at best.
