Had this at the Bistro double/triple IPA festival on Saturday. Funny thing, I added the beer after last year's fest, but didn't have it early enough to feel confident in my palate so I didn't review it. Things done changed as the Notorious B.I.G. once said, and that theme is with us today, as I am now confident to give said review having had it in consecutive years. First of all, cool name and all with its baseball shout out.
Anyways, pours a golden color, lighter than some that wade into orange territory, this one is a bone dry looker. Small 1/4" white head. Aroma is a medley of stuff, big aromatic dog Mosaic does the heavy lifting, while Citra provides the finer touches in the nose.
Taste, you get the C hop and Simcoe upside the head for the bittering. Its prominent, this is not a soft NE ipa, this is one of those 100+ ibu ipas, but they did it without crystal malt. Malt body is light, pale toasted malt that is barely there thankfully. You're left with a mix of all the ipa flavors, pine, grapefruit, tropical and citrus fruits. Has it all. Big winner of a beer here, hides the alcohol so good. Wish they could bottle or can this, would bang.
