Sølvpilen is a Belgian style strong ale. It is a tribute to the fine old Danish express trains. It is brewed with typical Belgian top yeast, intended as an accompaniment to a hearty fish dish or a good mature cheese.

Copenhagen 16/1 2019. 60 cl bottle from Rema1000, Frederiksundsvej, Kbh NV. Photo of old Express Train locomotive on the label. Apparantly some kind of homage to old Danish Trains.
Pours clear amber with medium-sized white head. Bubbly. Settles as a lonely, small island of foam. Thin rim along the side of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is subdued. Sweet malts, dried fruit, light sharp sourness mingling with a distinct and notable presence of alcohol.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, greasy texture.
Flavor is sweet and pretty intense. Strong sweetness followed by a slightly more moderate harsh bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Dry finish. Some boozy aftermath.
Crisp and clean boozer. Manages not to be cloying despite being sweet. A little rough around the edges. If I was an old locomotive from the sixties I would appreciate the Homage.
