Strong, full-bodied and well-hopped. Brewed for aging and with malt from Den Gamle By's malting plant.
Old Strong Ale is brewed from selected barley malt, sugar and aromatic hops.
Aarhus Bryghus Old Strong Ale is a golden, majestic beer, spiced with classic English hops. The top yeast together with the hops, the large amount of malt, including the malt from Den Gamle By, gives the beer a strength that mixes sweetness, bitterness and a touch of smoke into a perfect harmony.
The recipe is based on old handwritten notes about old ales and country ales from Vendsyssel.

Copenhagen 15/8 2017. 60 cl bottle from Rema1000, Frederikssundsvej Kbh. NV. Some people fussing about with malts from the museum Den Gamle By in Aarhus on the label.
Pours clear amber with small white head. Settles as thin creamy layer of foam barely covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is sweet malts with sour notes and metallic alcohol. Light hints of smoke.
Soft carbonation and medium thick palate.
Flavor is strongly sweet followed by medium sour bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish.
Not a particularly interesting sweetish beer with a solid ABV - but better than many Danish Strong Ales.
