Aarhus Bryghus Black Monster is brewed with the best malts and the most expensive aroma hops, after which the beer is aged in Glenlivet whiskey barrels.
After this first aging, the beer is returned to the tank for another aging with added oak chips and fresh hops. When bottling, a black monster is added to each bottle. The monster dissolves in the beer, making the beer extra strong.

Copenhagen 8/5 2016. 60 cl bottle from Barley Wine, Admiralgade, Kbh. K. A big barrel on the dark label to signify that this is truly an oak aged Imperial Stout.
Pours opaque dark brown with a light beige head. A bit bubbly. Head disappears fairly fast leaving a paper thin island of foam floating around. No lacing.
Aroma is whisky-like where you can smell the oak barrel treatment. Sweet caramel, vanilla and coffee. And a healthy amount of alcohol.
Soft carbonation and thick oily palate. Fat and almost flat texture.
Flavor is sweet and a little bit boozy. Medium coffee bitterness in the aftertaste which is surprisingly short.
Quite a mouthful. But a nice one.
