Been here a couple of times so figured I should get around to reviewing it.

A- Kind of a funny set up overall. The bar area sits infront of everywhere else a couple inches with a stage on facing opposite it. There are some posters in frames on the wall with a VW sitting on the upper part of a section. Nothing really stands out or shines overall. Pretty boring and average really.

Q- The beers are brewed at the brewery and brought here. Good quality but not great. They seem to be a bland brewery with a winner every now and again. Food quality was good with everyone who ordered I would say. Mine was the worst looking out of them but still tasted good. Although my mushroom and swiss came with only 3 mushrooms on it.

S- Service was prompt here and I never had a empty beer glass. Other people were having the same experiance from what I could tell. Was asked multiple times if the food was ok which I liked.

S- A typical menu I thought of good things but nothing really sticks out. The beer selection is always different each time I come in here but once again it's a crapshoot with some of the beers. Their IPA is usually really good so if all else fails stick to that.

F- Food was good nothing fantastic about it. This seems to be the one place that they are really lacking in. Not overall flavorful but had some flavor to it. I had the mushroom and swiss that only had three tiny pieces of mushroom on it. My wife to be got one of their pizzas and it looks like that is where they shine. So I guess you really can't go wrong with their pizzas as well.

Overall a place to go to when in Elkhart. Nothing over the top but average for the most part. Wish they would do some onsite brewing there because they have the space to do it.

Just like their very-occasional live music, Mad Anthony's is more like a middle-age, slightly drunk cover band than the real deal.

Let me first say I haven't been to the other three locations, but I have heard good things about them. Judge those by their respective reviews. I do know the Elkhart location though, I have tried all their regular ales as well as quite a few of their seasonals. Of course sampling a good selection of their food at the same time. I have been there several times not for the merit of their beers or food, my sole reason for patronizing this tacky drinkery was simply geographic location and good old fashioned peer pressure. For ease of use and simplicity I'll just row through the list:

Atmosphere - If the Chinese made a knock-off of TGI Fridays it would look like Mad Anthony's. Crappy Ebay movie posters, heavy use of beige, ubiquitous VW over the bar.

Quality - The beer is interesting, all the Ales are different yet all taste largely of green hops. Great in an IPA, not so great when your Chocolate Stout and Irish Red have the same overwhelming hop character as the aforementioned IPA. Not sure why this is? The beer is far from bad but that's the absolute best I can say about it. Worth a try, don't expect much for your $4.

Service - Run and managed by twenty somethings, watch them flirt, talk, and walk hurriedly to no place in particular while you wait. . . and wait. . . and wait. Nice though, if only slightly uninformed (see food).

Selection - Pizzas, pasta, seafood, American, they do have a good size selection. Most interesting are the pizzas that are actually pretty good. Scooby snacks are French fries with Old Bay on them. Original no, but who can argue with Old Bay?

Food - Hit or miss, not good for a brewpub. Stick with the pizza to be safe. On one occasion I was informed that the cajun Catfish was indeed fresh by our lovely waitress. Fifteen minutes later I was presented with a fish sandwich served between a roll that was soggier than a Shamwow in a monsoon. I asked whether the fillet was indeed fresh on account of the waterlogged fillet. Apparently it's "freshly thawed." It was at least consistent with the dank, withering salad.

Unoriginal, unimaginative, and magnificently generic, just like the cover bands and the lager they push.
