Bomber purchased from the brewery's stand at the Orenco farmer's market. This one is fermented with a farmhouse yeast, and bottle conditioned with honey.
Poured into my Duvel tulip, Ambacht Golden Rye Ale is a spritzy, clear gold with a white head that leaves nice lace.
Smell is very good, with nice spicy and fruity esters, a bit yeasty, that classic saison pithiness.
Taste is also very good, with the pepperiness of the esters complimenting the spiciness of the rye, balanced with a bit of fruitiness and minerality. Very authentic and enjoyable.
Mouthfeel has a nice, soft carbonation and medium light body with a fairly dry finish.
Drinkability is great for saison fans, as this is a classic example, with the rye provided an extra layer of depth while integrating seamlessly. Tasty, quenching, very clean and smooth, a great summer session ale.
