22oz bottle picked up from the brewery. From notes

A - Pours a dark brown with minimal tan head. Copper edging and the lacing is decently sticky

S - A mix of chocolate, caramel, and some fruits (oranges mainly).
There is a bit of nuttiness to it, almost hazelnut like, hard to tell.

T - The dark malts present themselves mainly in the form of semi-sweet chocolate, toffee and caramel. The Belgian funky yeastiness does come out in the form of some pepper spice. That nuttiness found in the nose does play a part on the back palate, hard to pinpoint, hazelnuts or pecans.

M - Surprisingly light body, perhaps medium. Great carbonation, semi-dry

D - Another oddity from Ambacht, but, another tasty beer from Ambacht. I have no idea how to style this beer, Garde? Porter? Who knows. I would just say it is tasty!

Appears black with a small brownish tan head.

It smells slightly chocolate like, nutty, fruity yeasty smell. There is also a mild caramel smell as well. The smell is very nice; you can smell characteristic smells of a porter and characteristic smells of Belgian yeast.

It tastes much like the smell. There is a nice chocolate and caramel taste that is balanced with a fruity peppery yeasty flavor. The beer is very light and smooth. The balance between the yeasty Belgian flavor and the chocolate malt and caramel flavor is very nice.

The carbonation is quite low and smooth. The carbonation is natural and it goes well with the flavor of the beer.

The drinkability is good as the beer is fairly light. I could drink a few of these beers quite easily.

This is a very nice beer that is pretty creative and is quite unique. A very good beer.

Bomber purchased from the brewery's stand at the Orenco farmer's market. This one is fermented with an abbey yeast (abbey II IIRC), and bottle conditioned with honey. They market themselves as being a Belgian style brewery, and since there's no Belgian Porter style here on BA (??), I went with BDA.
Poured into my Duvel tulip, Ambacht Black Gold Porter (they sure do love to reference gold in their beer names!) is a cola dark brown with a light head that leaves decent lace.

Smell is quite pleasant, nice spiciness from the yeast, some caramel from the dark malts, on the sweeter side but not overly so, more of the fruit esters then malt sugars.

Taste is also very good, a very enjoyable Belgian porter that brings just enough dark malt character (chocolate and toffee) to the party while still keeping it really clean and fairly light, with light phenols. As much as I loved their rye saison, I might prefer this more.

Mouthfeel is softly carbonated, with a medium light body and somewhat dry finish. Notable in that's it's so light and dry for a porter, which most people would not expect, but not in a thin or lacking manner.

Drinkability is great for Belgian fans, as this is a nice example of the rare Belgian porter / saison noire. Flavorful yet light and quaffable, another impressively executed brew from Ambacht.
