The beer comes in a black color with a bit of a brown ring of a head.
The aroma has sweet chocolate, a bit of apple and fruity notes, as well as dark roasty notes.
The flavor follows with some bittersweet chocolate, a bit of a thick dark roasty flavor, and then that roasted malt carrying onto the finish. There's very little carbonation carrying the beer.
The 10% is extremely well hidden, while still having a decent amount of imperial stout flavor.

Quite handsome dark mahogany brown with a nice foam in the wine glass. Smell of licorice and coffee. Enough carbonation, but an oily sort of mouthfeel.
Very odd stuff with the most pronounced flavor of licorice I've had in a long time. Then there is what can only be described as a hospital bandage taste. Coffee candy flavor. Then the burnt banana bread taste with the band-aid on top. Coarse and grainy overall.
This is just bizarre, from first candied sniff to bean pie finish. It's the Bearded Lady of Imperial Stouts. I wouldn't say it's likable, but one baffling sip leads to another. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Bine & Vine in San Diego.

On tap at Strand Brewing Company in Torrance, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, char, cookie dough, and slight cocoa. Taste is much the same with char and burnt flavors on the finish. There is a high amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer with a pretty good smell but the flavors are too burnt and char-like to be very drinkable.
