Gorgeous deep amber whiskey hued body, topped with creamy tan head.
The aroma is all biscuits, sugary malt with just a hint of rye spiciness.
The flavor is a hodgepodge of caramel, and dark bread, with a subtle peppery hoppy finish. Outstanding.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied.
Overall this has to be my favorite beer out of all of the half a million or so breweries in Ashville.

A half pint at the pub, then another glass from a growler.
Dark red with a good head, spicy aroma.
Taste is what a rye ale should be, malty, earthy, a bit sour.

12/28/17....pours a dark red, slight off white foam. Amber caramel nose with a rye background. Chewy breads sweet open, some light rye hop bitters. Balances out nicely for a even keeled rye infused IPA>

Rich, balanced brew. Do not understand the low ratings here. Sweet, slightly spicy. Excellent.

Appearance: Pours a hazed, dusty, medium brown body with a wispy, whitish head.
Smell: Toasted grain, faintly spicy rye, a little citrus and caramel.
Taste: Toasted bread with a slight rye accent and relatively low sweetness. Softly citric-edged lemon, but, like the malty sweetness, it's low. Lightly bitter aided by the rye. Lightly drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation (barely).
Overall: While one of the better brews from LAB, it's still a weak offering. Again and again, I find the grub the most appealing part about this place.
