Inspired by the German brewing traditions that Sudwerk was founded upon in 1989, this robust and caramel Märzen is the perfect choice to pair with all festivities. The recipe was pulled from Sudwerk's archives, originally brewed by our first Brewmaster Karl Eden nearly 30 years ago. Sudwerk founders Ron and Dean kept Karl on strict 4 liter per day ration to ensure he kept the brewhouse in order! Best imbibed using steins, the same way Karl enjoyed it...PROST!

Pours a wonderful robust amber color with a thin off white head.
Nose has a bright grain character with slight apple and caramel notes. Very vibrant aroma
Taste is robustly malty with a slightly bitter floral hop character. Flavor continues the bright trend this beer is carrying on about. Might just be that it is by far the freshest festbier I've had in a long time (canned on 10-02, just over 2 weeks ago) but it's a very nicely rich grainy brew with a balancing noble hop note.
Feel is wonderful, has very much the kind of crisp finish that invites the drinking of stein after stein. Great drinkability.
Overall this is a fine amber marzen. Very drinkable with a nice robustness of grain flavors and a perfectly subtle use of hops.

Appearance: clear amber with minimal lacing and head retention. White head color.
Nose: biscuit, maple syrup, great German maltiness.
Taste: malt forward, a nice interpretation of a German Oktoberfest beer. I find the malt to be consuming. The lightness in the hops does well to balance it out, but not quite enough. A little off balance. Syrupy finish.
