On-tap at the brewpub. Pours golden and bubbly, a centimeter of white head that left some fair lacing. The aroma was ripe with perfumey hops and some balancing malt sweetness. While perfumey hops work in the nose to some extent, they assault the tongue in ways I did not want to be touched. Also some floral flavors, moderately bitter with a cereal finish. The body is medium thick with decently smooth bubbles. Of the three pale ales (pale, XPA, IPA) they seem to have recently developed, this pale was the best, despite using hops poorly. As a German brewery, this foray into hoppy ales is not working out. This is the only one of the three that was drinkable.
