Brasserie Tchequébec Lager Bohémienne
750 ml brown glass jug
$5 @ Marche Des Saveurs Du Quebec, 280 Place Marché-Du-Norde, Montreal, QC
Appearance: Slightly hazy deep golden body beneath a full head of bright white foam. Excellent head retention and somewhat better than average lacing.
Smell: Limited. Fruitiness. Slight yeasty sulphur. Very little grainy malt. Hops? - a background suggestion.
Taste: Sharp apple overrides malt & some grassy/floral/spicy hops. Perhaps an old batch? Badly cared for? No freshness date. Honeyish in a way. Subtle tartness. Dry, acidic finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a crisp elevated carbonation bristling!
Overall: Possible old sample? There is yeast in the bottle, and if it wasn't stored properly that could have led to additional fermentation... but that means there was an initial incomplete fermentation. I think regardless of its faults, it's still not a great version of a Czech pils. Needs work.

Small growler: Poured a nice light dark copper color lager with nice white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of tart and citrus cereal notes is not enticing at all. Taste is also dominated by citrus notes with some tart notes which cover most of the cereal notes that should be identifiable. Body is about average with good carbonation. It had been a while since I tasted a beer so infected.
