Utterly black beer, even when held to the blazing Huntington Beach afternoon sun. A thin tan foam sat atop the beer.
Aroma is exactly what you'd expect from an oatmeal stout: roasty grain and oats with a subtle sweetness.
Flavor comes on metallic at first with unremarkable mouthfeel. Quickly segues into a mild roasted malt flavor. Finishes with a bit more astringency than necessary, accompanied by a lingering oatmeal flavor.
Not the best example of the style and I didn't really care for it too much. However, I found my pint glass empty very quickly, so I have to give it props on drinkability.
