It's not often that you see a microbrewed bock in the US. Here's one brewed up by Huntington Beach Brewing. On to the beer:
This bock features a pale copper color with some orange smudged in. The head is small has has a semi-soapy texture, and doesn't retain for too long. The nose does show promise (this being a HBBC beer) despite being low on firepower; sweet bread and grassy notes.
Robust enough to be a bock. sweet liquid bread, did I just say that? Dry toffee too. Some grassy waves. Even the alcohol isn't afraid to budge in, providing a spicy and bitter sensation that is sharp, and a flavor that's like fusel gum. The beer's got a mouthfeel that's medium and bubbly. And "sharp" from the booze.
Some of this bock's attributes are blah, but in the end the good is just enough to overcome the blah.
