3 people in front of me at the brewery got this so I thought I would give it a try.
A - Deep ruby, chestnut color typical of many American Strongs. Clear with fine white head and light lacing.
S - Robust aroma with malt and caramel up front with the hops coming afterwards.
T - Good flavor with the caramel richness playing off the hops. Not as bitter or hop flavored as some American Strong Ales but has more balance and solid "beer" flavor. The malt is nice with some yeast character to finish.
M - Moderate to heavy mouth-feel especially for only 6.9% ABV. The carbonation was moderate and left a softness on the palate with all the specialty grains.
Overall, a beer style that has started to grow on me recently and I enjoyed this representation. Not as flavorful as some of the style but good flavors none the less. I think another hop charge could give this beer more legs but I liked the balance too.
