A light, refreshing summer ale brewed with chamomile. It is slightly clouded, auburn-amber color, and glows with a dignified radiance.
But the beer I was served was nearly flat. There was no head or lace. None. I couldnt even stir up a head upon agitation. There was still a sensation of fizz in the mouthfeel, but none emanating from the body. Ordinarily Id dock points for such a lapse. However, though Im sure this oversight was not by design, the absence of carbonation was not an injurious detraction. Rather, the placid tranquility of the brew was somehow complimentary to the taste. It seemed to work this way for what it was and in the end I accepted this with little objection.
The smell of Troutdale Tea is yeasty and the taste has an appealing ginger-lime quality to it that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you can handle a flat-bodied beer, this one will do quite well on a summers eve in Troutdale.
