Superfly Oatmeal Stout

i dont know if this is distinct from the beer listed here simply as oatmeal stout or not, i had that one many years ago when i visited their taproom. this seems like a different beer, not just one that finally got a name, its a little lighter in alcohol too, and its being pushed as their seasonal at mercury cafe downtown, so i am suspecting its a unique brew from their original oatmeal stout. its shiny and clear in the glass, i can seem the amber shades along the edges, not as black as some, but under a gorgeous couple inches of lasting tan foam. it smells starchy and earthy and oaty right away, even ahead of the roast in this, which is lighter than it is in a lot of these, but i think appropriately so, i like that its so balanced and drinkable. raisin and toast notes to the flavor, sweeter than i love in the style and a little metallic in the finish, but a nice depth to the malts used, and a relatively easy drinking example of the style, still smooth and slick from the oats, and nicely carbonated. i could also see this being delicious with a whole heap of unmalted roasted barley giving it a coffee black character, but its nice how it is too. i love that its all organic. my first beer from asher in a long time, tasting great!
