Smelled very grainy and musty. Tasted old, musty and lifeless. Close to undrinkable.

Pours deep, dark brown with an off white head. Aroma offers some roasty chocolate, sugars from the oats, bread and some earthy hops. Flavor follows suit. A medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a decent oatmeal stout. Not great or standoutish, but one I, as an Oatmeal Stout enthusiast, did enjoy. Would drink again, but also not one I would seek out either.

Tasted 12/26/12
A - Dark brown, nearly opaque. Not black. Has a thin yet fluffy coffee colored head. Leaves good lacing.
S - Typical stout, nothing really jumps out at me. The usual coffee and chocolate are there, not much else.
T - More stout goodness. Creamy and dry, some bitter chocolate.
M - A little light, it is dry which I like, but I expected a little more body from this oatmeal stout.
O - Just a solid representation of the style. Not bad, but not the best I've had from the brewery. Sessionable for a stout.

a very basic but very well made stout. pours a lovely rich dark brown color, not letting much light in at all. two inch tan head on top, decent retention. smells like sweet malts and coffee, rather generic in the nose. the flavor is delicious though, and the rolled oats add a cool flavor element, very identifiable. notes of coffee and milk chocolate in the background, but not overly sweet. feel is good, although i nitro-tap might suit this better. fuller body but not heavy at all, and medium carbonation. pretty sturdy abv, maybe 6 or 7, cant remember what the board said. that is very well hidden. i liked this stout, and i like this brewery, cool place to hang and have a few.

appearance - dark chocolate brown, decent tan head. looks pretty appetizing
smell - crazy amount of hops on nose (what i've come to expect from these guys on any style)
taste - crazy bitter hops, earthy coffee
mouthfeel - a bit too hop forward, not enjoying what they did to the style, but gave a 3.5 cause i am sure there are plenty of people who will enjoy this
