blueberry ale ages in local wine barrels. pours a clear tarnished penny color with a small bubbly white head. smell is tart from blueberries, slightly sour, oaky, and very alcoholic. flavor is similar, less blueberry than i anticipated, in fact its not that noticable at all, just sort of a fruity frunk rather than straight blueberries. the alcohol and wood are the strongest flavors, but there is also some acidity from the wine barrels and faint notes of plum. feel is alright, its a little heavy and boozy to drink a lot of, kind of an inappropriate summer seasonal, but its a mellow woody beer. i think even more time in oak might do it wonders. not much carbonation, but thats okay. overall an ambitious brew from asher. very tasty and different.
