Picked this up at Atwater Market acouple weeks ago. The label really caught my eye, heck, it even has a huge "#1!" plastered to it...

A: Pours a straw-like copper colour with creamy two-finger foam head. Good lacing down the glass and good retention as a creamy foam blanket rests nicely on top.

S: Quite belgian. Lots of clove spice, yeast, tropical fruits (pineapple and banana), faint nutmeg, and a lingering earthy grain aroma. Quite a nice aroma.

T: Very similar to smell with lots of clove and tropical fruits dominating the taste upfront. Some pepper, apricots, and a faint nut taste also present. Finishes dry and with a bit of tartness.

M: Mouthfeel seems a little off. Not as oily and thick as I would've hoped, as this feels a little watery. Moderate carbonation level seems about right for the style.

O: Not sure I would emblazon this with a "#1!" just yet, however, a decent Belgian Pale Ale that I would purchase again. I'd liken this to a poor-mans Duvel. Certainly worth a try.

Bottle: Poured a clear yellow color ale with a super large foamy pure white head with great retention and some very good lacing. Aroma of tart notes is quite dominant with some notes of Belgian style malt. Taste is also dominant by light tart notes which even though were not designed to be there originally provides an extra complexity to this standard Belgian ale. Body is above average with some lively carbonation. Even though this is clearly infected I thought the infection went very well with the base beer.

500ml bottle poured into a glass.

As i slowly poured this one into a glass, without even a quarter full of beer and the glass was overflowing with foam. This beer is over carbonated and the taste of yeast hides any other flavors. This is not to the style according to all the other belgians i had.

Rather than trying this one just buy something you already bought and enjoyed.
