On nitro-tap at Main St. Brewery on 7/14/09.

A - Dark brown body with deep mahogany wood hues and over a finger's width of creamy tan cap that retained well and deposited thick, maze-like lacing all over the glass.

S - Pleasant waft of roasted malt and coffee with plenty of chocolate notes as well. Some sweet milky, vanilla notes emerge as well and seque into a nutty character with a tinge of earthy hops in the back.

T - Opens with a blend of roasted malt and coffee, then switches gears and moves into more of a semi-sweet chocolate character with some lactic sweetness. Some slight boozy notes emerge, but are quite subtle. Finishes with a fairly earthy, leafy bitter hop character.

M - Medium body with a very smooth, silky texture that's not too watery at all. Finishes with a lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue.

D - Very nice little porter from this small brewpub in Pleasanton, CA. This was perhaps my favorite porter from the trip... definitely one of the better ones. It's got chocolate, roasty notes and the bitterness, but not too much of any one particular flavor.

This Porter was very, very thick and dark. On the verge of black. Lace retention was very heavy. The smell of roasted malts filled the nose with a pleasant aroma. The taste was of roasted malts and a hint of spice and dark chocolate. The food is quite good. Stop by for a lunch and have a beer.

This medium dark porter had excellent head retention and lacing was good. Very roasted aroma, inviting. Good roasted taste profile as well with an interesting twist. When I asked the publican she told me it was brewed with a touch of rum. Excellent additive! A fine porter and one I hope they keep making as it was great. Love to visit this pub as well, the beer always tastes good at Main Street.
