Appearance: It has a copper, almost amber colour to it. It has a nice white head but dies down quite fast and has very minimal lacing.

Smell: The aromas give out hints of honey along with minor hitns of hops, caramel and spices.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a sweet honey taste to it along with a minimal caramely, spicy and grainy taste. Its generaly smooth but with a bitter/dry finish.

Mouthfeel: It's a medium carbonated beer that ends with more of a bitter/dry taste.

Drinkability: It's a very light tasting, drinkable beer but doesn't have much flavours accompanied to it and is really watered down. Good for a summer beer.

Poured from a 341ml bottle

A: Pale color with a tad of copper in it. One finger head that died down pretty fast to a little ring that actually did manage to leave some lacing.

S: Gross. Grainy and unappealing. A certain funk that was also present in the U-Rousse.

T: Extremely bland. The honey in this beer is extremely faint and really only noticeable in the after taste if at all. No hop presence really and pretty sweet. Not much to this beer besides water honestly.

T: Crisp and pretty light. Thin body and not quiet as dry as i found the U-Rousse. Bubbly mouth feel, i am presuming to try and clog out the off flavors.

O: This is a very bland beer truthfully. It has a couple off flavors but really its just acceptable. I found it to be pretty disappointing. Definitely not the beer I expected when I saw Unibroues label on the bottle. I got both this and the U-Rousse for free in exchange for some home-brew so I'm not quiet as disappointed as i may have been if i'd actually purchased a 12. Just an average to bland beer.

Thanks to jmalex for hand carrying this back from our French(ish) brethren to the north.

This one pours a brownish-amber and its head falls to a few bubbles in no time. The color has a suspicious fruity quality to it.

The missus tells me “miel” is French for “honey”, and it does in fact remind me of Leinenkugel’s Honey Weiss just a bit. There’s a dry, crisp corn here backed by a slight gummy-worm sweetness. Not bad, but not exactly good.

Definitely tastes of cheap, mass produced grains, with thin, smooth molasses backed by pungent grains and basement. A gentle dryness of hops rides on top that really doesn’t do much for the sour grain flavor.

Feels present but not too dense with an ephemeral carbonation.

Meh. I would say that this beer could be considered at the top of the lower end of beers. It isn’t awful by any means, but I certainly won’t be writing home about it.

Pours a nice light golden colour with a finger of foam that disappears immediately.

Smell of honey and hops but can't mask the corn smell in there as well.

Taste is grainy and watery with a bit of honey mixed in for uniqueness.

Carbonation is good and some nice hops on the tongue but bitter finish and unpleasant aftertaste hurt the drinkability.

I liked this better than the Rousse is shared a box with but there are a lot of better honey lagers out there.

Served in a pokal.

Look (3/5) - the look was decent for the style. It poured amber-gold (maybe 16-17*SRM). The head rose to about one to one-and-a-half fingers of off-white head that fell quickly without any lacing to a cap.

Smell (2.5/5) - There is not a whole lot going on with the nose and it smells a lot like a mainstream lager or a dortmunder export. The honey aroma isn't at all as strong as I would have expected. The malt is grainy, but has a bit of an off flavor like old, wet bread with a hint of caramel.

Flavor (2.5/5) - A lot like the smell, a hint of honey is a more prominent though. The same grain flavors, with that wet-bread taste, a hint of gym-bag, and some corn sweetness. There is some bitterness, but very little hop flavor. No particular flavor is very strong and it ends up being pretty watery.

Feel (3.0/5) Light body, with medium levels of high carbonation. Pretty average.

Drink (2.5/5) Hurt a bit by the poor flavors. That being said, they weren't too strong, so it wasn't terrible. Reminded me of a bit more malty version of a mainstream lager.

Meh.

Review from BeerAdvocate magazine Vol. II Issue IX:

Picked this up in Montreal. An odd and interesting find from a brewery who focuses on Belgian-style brewing. Let's try it.

Pours a clear, rich amber color with a healthy-looking head and retention. Soft aroma of fermented honey, floral and fresh grist. Even-bodied, near medium, with a smooth consistency. Some prickly carbonation. Up front it tastes like soggy bread, with some honey sweetness that turns a bit sugary. Hops? Some leafy notes, but that's it. Cabbage, with some DMS. Mineral, dusty and dirty toward the middle to end. Our palates literally feel like saying "Blah." Finishes dry and bland.

Unibroue should stay focused. 'Nuff said.

Sample courtesy of Erin D! Thanks! An almost amber yellow fills the glass. White fizzy foam caps, and capsizes. Pretty standard aroma of an ontario "buck a beer" honey lager with all the corn and grains one could ask for. Fusels with honey-corn and cereal grains round out the flavour. Finishes quick and mercifully, thank god. The archetype for a new style of beer I call the Canadian Corn Lager. Sheeesh

another level , but the aftertaste is quite dry

mouthfeel is alright

Drinkability is alright. refreshing and dry

Pours a a dark brown copper with two fingers of thick head. A small layer of foam remains on top of the brew throughout the experience. Lacing is mild.

Honey and sweet malts

Follows the nose fairly simple with pleasant balance throughout

This brew is well carbonated and crisp possessing a light to medium body

This is a an example of an extremely simple brew that still was made with attention to detail, very easy to drink, it is a very versatile alternative to the hundred of other macro lagers on the market

This beer pours a clear medium golden copper hue, with two fingers of fairly dense soapy white head, which leaves no lace as it melts away. It smells of light caramel malt, some earthy sweetness, and herbal hops. The taste is mild honey, sweet caramel malt, and grassy hops. The carbonation is quite soft, the body smooth and a little creamy, and it finishes off-dry and crisp. Nicely balanced, if a bit to the sweet side.

I shared this with my Mom as she was preparing my parents' 40th anniversary dinner. She liked it, and I do too, which isn't common for me and honey beers.

AKA Honey pilsner.

A- nice copper color with an orange tint, more bronze than the U (blonde pilsner), but not an amber/red lager. Clear, bubbly. nice slightly off-white head that diminishes fast but keeps a hint of lacing.

S- light, clean, mild floral-meadowy hops. A hint of honey. some pleasant caramel & spice odor that could be stronger.

T- Interesting lager, a little sweet balanced with mild hops. Too watery overall, but rates well for its price category. A six pack priced the basic macros and the macro value beers.

MF- Some residual sugar. Fairly smooth, moderate carbonation. Too watery but thirst quenching. Not bad, but it leaves an after feeling.

D- Not great, but enjoyable. Easy to take, given that one accepts that this not one of Unibroue's high quality bottle conditioned products.
