real fun blend here, lager and little sumpin blended together, not sure if its the base pils or not, but its hoppy either way due to the little sumpin in here, but its also spiked with sage, meyer lemon, and prickly pear, a unique combination, playful and drinkable, light and still clean, not overdosed on the extras, and i think even without the fruits and sage, that the blend of these two beers in this proportion would yield a cool beer. this is honey blonde colored, not all the way clear, and sporting a full inch of airy white head. the nose here is sage forward, rubbed and fragrant, fresh and distinct, notes of white pepper and green tea with it, and then the clean citrus of the meyer lemon, maybe a little compatible citrus from the hops too, a light canned pineapple thing, then the sort of tropical juicy prickly pear, floral to me here, subtle berry, maybe hibiscus too. the flavor is all of this, the sage is all through it, real neat with the hops that kick up midway through, more lemon than prickly pear to me, but both are appreciable, especially in the second half. i get pils malt, some wheat too, and some hop bitterness, even a little dankness to it still here. nice carbonation, peppy herbal freshness with the fruit and the hops and the sage all working in concert, and refreshing for how unique it is overall, off dry but still quick drinking. fun stuff, more the experimental side of lagunitas, absolutely a success.

On tap at Lagnitas TapRoom & Beer Sanctuary

A: Pours hazy golden orange amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a thin layer and laces very nicely.

S: Sage and prickly pear, mild citrus, lemon, a little grapefruit and orange, and a touch of light malt.

T: Sage and prickly pear jump out, lemon, citrusy and piney hops, and a little light malt.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Pretty darn cool science experiment of a beer. Everything they threw in shines through. Historically I'm not a big fan of beers with sage, but I dig this one.
