This is a limited beer from the brewpub that is a mixture of Lagunitas Censored, Lucky 13, and Imperial Stout. I'm classifying it as a red ale since 2 of them are red but it's a hybrid.
Smell: Oscillating and dynamic. Loads of fresh tropical fruits (majority is orange) as well as some syrupy dark plums and raisins. Some spice, lemongrass, dark caramel, molasses, and a wiff of black cherries.... Wow, something special with regard to the variety and complexity of the nose.
Taste: Three very distinct and wonderful flavor segments. Starts semisweet caramel and fresh apples (not caramel apple though). Quite spicy with a slight piney hop oil bite. The middle shifts gears to become really malty - very Lucky 13 in character. Rich, heavy toffee and caramel malt notes. Thick and intense with some pine and resin in the background. Towards the finish the clean roastiness of the stout comes through. Not enough to overpower or disrupt, it seamlessly transitions to the pleasantly grapeskin/grass bitter finish which lingers as ripe fruit.
Notes: An incredible combo with distinct contributions of each beer that don't blur together but do pair well in concert. A masterful job of blending these 3 beers.
