A forewarning for your senses: This exotic fusion of flavors has been crafted to conjure cocktailian notes of orange juice, fresh lime, grapefruit, & allspice; and brewed without summoning any (liquor) spirits. Our homage to the original Zombie and tiki movement, both created in our home state of California. BYOTU, naturally. So Bring Your Own Tiny Umbrella. Cheers!

Drinking from a 19.2oz. can.
Pours a light yellow-green, slightly hazy, very bubbly with a moderate head.
Smells of lime and grapefruit.
Tastes like a tropical fruit drink.
Not something I would have again.

Pale, yellow color. Thin, white head. Heavily flavored but still not too bad. Notes of grapefruit, orange, and spices in the aroma. Sweet, boozy. Not something you would expect from this brewery.

So I have to say the first sip was unfortunate. I got hit with this very heavy taste and after it I was able to appreciate everything else going on with the drink. I could appreciate that nice citrussy taste and that initial harsh one was gone.

Lime, grapefruit, various other kinds of citrus and... pumpkin? Pumpkin spice? Why am I tasting that? The "cocktail-beer" accusations are mostly right but people should really stop expecting stuff blatantly marketed as fruity "malt liquor IPAs" to taste like some oldschool west coast IPA. Anyway, the sweetness is lower than you'd expect and the bitterness is higher than you'd expect. Works for getting toe up.

A dingy mosh pit, a summer beach, perhaps a handful of berries but one of them was too mushy.
Ipa, beer, zombie, canned cocktail, doesn’t matter what you claim to be, only how you taste. Artificial tropical fruit, well carbonated, I’m actually pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed this one.

Bought a single 19.2oz can $3.59 Tamura's $3.09
110 days old
Smells like grapefruit, lime, oranges
Light golden color, slightly hazy
Medium-light mouthfeel
Taste of oranges, grapefruit, lime, alcohol aftertaste
Overall not much of a beer, ok to try once. It does seem more like a cocktail. ShHould be sold in smaller cans. Never had a zombie so can't compare

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The brew pours a lightly hazed straw color with a small fizzy head of white foam. The head fades quite quickly, leaving a touch of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strong of a passionfruit and orange juice smell mixed with a lime and grapefruit rind. Along with these smells comes notes of allspice and come aromas of a light cracker malt and stone fruits of peach and apricot. Overall, rather sweet.
Taste – The taste begins with a very sweet fruit flavor of orange and passionfruit, mixed with a bit of grapefruit hop and a touch of herb. Other sweet tastes of apricot and tangerine are there as well, mixing in with a little bit of cracker malt. The sweet flavors are somewhat artificial tasting and the hop remains very light, adding only a touch of flavor. Toward the end there is a little bit of an allspice and a hint of metallic and paper flavors, leaving one with a fruit infused malt liquor like taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is light for a 10 % abv brew with a carbonation level that is higher. Both are good for the overly sweet and malt liquor like flavors, making it a bit easier to down.
Overall – Not really my style. It is crisp and sweet, if you want something along those lines. May be OK for a warm day, but certainly not one to go too all that often.

This “IPA” looks and tastes like a Finnish Long Drink. I like those, so, no complaints here. But call it a strong ale, not an IPA.

1PT 3.2 FL OZ can
Served in an imperial nonic pint glass
This beer pours pale yellow and has a fleeting head. It has a slight haze to it.
I smell all the citrus. I can pick out the orange, lime, and sweet grapefruit. I can't say I smell the allspice.
All the individual citrus flavors are discernible at first. The grapefruit eventually takes over. The grapefruit flavor is more bitter than the smell led me to believe. The allspice must be pretty subtle because I cannot taste it either.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
The grapefruit really takes over by the end of this beer. It ends up reminding me of Elvis Juice on the last few sips.

Notes via consciousness: This is a Zombie cocktail inspired beer at 10% ABV for $3.25 in a 19.2 fl. oz. can ~ I can only imagine who they're marketing this to, but hey, I bought it! Anyway, it's poured a very light straw gold that immediately makes me assume that there's a good amount of adjunct in play. It's hazy, and topped by a short head of white that dissipates quickly. The aroma is interesting. It's very fruity with passion fruit, tangerine, citrus pith, grapefruit, lime, and guava. The label lists allspice, and although I'm getting a spiciness I don't particularly get it as allspice. Let me grab some from the spice rack and check... ahh, I could see it as it's mixed up within the tropical fruits but I still don't really get direct allspice. Is there spice added? No, it's "natural flavors". What I'm not finding here is alcohol, which is a good thing. With that said, on to the taste... which seems to perfectly match the aroma. It's unusual to be sure. It's sweet and fruity but there's no real malt flavor to it. There's also some clear alcohol present but it's not too bad, particularly for being 10% ABV. Finally, I get a little bit of a mineralish quality that reminds me of Flintstone's vitamins. Would I buy this again, absolutely not. It doesn't even seem like beer, it's just a malternative. Where they came up with the idea to use the IPA moniker I don't know as it doesn't seem to have and hop flavor or bitterness to it. As to strength, well yes, strength is a part of an IPA but strength alone doesn't make an IPA; strength just makes a strong ale. The lack of head retention and lacing combined with the haziness really hurts it on appearance. I understand that alcohol kills head retention, and thus lacing, but it doesn't even give you anything to start with and for such a sugary beer that's a failure. I also feel that I have to forgive the haziness as that's so common these days, and let's face it, we're not talking about an American adjunct lager or German Pils here so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The only thing remaining then is the mouthfeel which is fine. It's medium bodied and crisp although I think a little more carbonation would be nice. My guess is that they want it to be soft and smooth so as not to accentuate the alcohol that's there. In the end this is a disaster unless you're looking for a canned cocktail, and if that's the case that just proves my point that it's not really a beer. Why didn't they just market it as "Tiki Fusion ZOMBIE malt-based cocktail"?

Stovepipe can from Albertsons. Cloudy white wine colored pour, fizzy head. Aroma is lime and grapefruit. Taste is citrusy, grapefruit, lime with notes of vodka (?). This seems so much like a canned cocktail, I'm trying to find any sign of the IPA it's supposed to be. Not a fan.
