special edition of the infamous sucks, done with an experimental hop, which has since been named equinox. was lucky enough to have this from a firkin the first time, just a glorious experience where this extra hop charge is all oversaturated and fresh, huge in the best possible way, right on the line. a little cloudier this way than the original sucks, which is highly refined, even the normal draft pour of this version has a touch of haze, but the beer is no heavier to drink. the 366 hops add a lot, a whole lot, herbal spice, a little greenness and bite, drippy pine sap, orange candy, lemongrass, and even like a spearmint thing, and the nose and taste are just as vibrant. lets not forget here how great sucks already is, and the nuance of the rye in the mash is killer with these extra hops, a new synergy, earthy and herbal and drying. juicy, only moderately bitter, i get some mosaic too it seems, and i like it best with the slower cask texture and smoothness, this is stupid drinkable for being 8% abv, yikes. sliced mango and melon to finish, a little grassy thing, and the rye spice. this is wonderful beer, respects but also transforms the original!

Served in a mason jar at the brewery.
Hazy honey-gold with light head and good lacing. Smells like weed and pine resin. Fragrant. I like it. Pretty much what I smelled, with a splash of lemon peel. The aforementioned smells are the dominant flavors. That's my jam.

Not a bill awaiting passage, this is a version of Lagunitas Sucks brewed with experimental hop HBC 366. I am not sure if it should be reviewed as its own beer or under an existing category, however I’ve opted to enter it in its own classification.
This beer pours an orange-tinged straw color with some foaming. The aroma is dominated by a grassy-straw character contrasted with what I can best describe as a strong cat pee presence. The flavor has a bit of toasted straw, a slight chew to its body, a well rounded bitterness—and more of the cat pee notes.
I’ve heard the ‘regular’ Sucks is a cat pee bomb but I honestly don’t get that when drinking it. This, on the other hand, is overly ‘catty.’
