Tap at Sierra Grille. Pint glass pour is a darkish brown/amber color with a finger of off-white head that retains well and leaves decent lacing. The scent is somewhat faint but mostly hop forward it seems. Lots of pine and grapefruit with some citrus coming through with just hints of malt.
The taste ups the ante nicely, big hop oils, definitely very hoppy. Piny, spicy, earthy, grapefruit and some pineapple. Some caramel malt backing. Slick and bitter mouthfeel, medium carbonation and not much alcohol presence.
Wasn't sure of the style while drinking it, it reminded me very much of some of the other Lagunitas hoppy strong ales (Brown Shugga, etc). I've had this a few times since it came to the area, brings on some nice bitterness and flavor.

On-tap 7/30/13 at Pour Farm Tavern in New Bedford, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep coppery brown color, with a foamy off-white head that fades very slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains fruity citrus, caramelized rye malts and floral hops.
T: The taste starts out with strong sweet flavors of caramel and citrus. Then a decent hops bitterness comes in but it’s a bit subdued. The malt character is hearty and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and a little crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a very good beer to pound down for a long time.
