Seems like a watered-down Scottish Ale without any trace of smoke. Dry, light bodied, more of a lager. It does have a subtle but pleasant flavor and a touch of hoppiness. Bitterish aftertaste. Not much nose. Light amber with modest carbonation in the pilsner glass.
Surprisingly, the least interesting of the Big Cheese drafts I tried. Reasonably clean, and it might not be a bad quaff.

On-tap at the source, on to the beer:
Amber orange colored with a good amount of lace that sticsk to the glass. Kilned/smoked malt and oddly enough, light fumes of curry are sensed in the beer's aroma. It tastes arrives on style for the style. There's some powdery unsweetened chocolate, some smoke, and assorted minerals. Soothing in the mouth, which helps make this scottish ale a solid choice.

On-tap at The Big Cheese
A: The pour is on the red side of amber in color with a finger's worth of white head and spotty lacing.
S: Sweet caramel and toffee maltiness up front with a nice bready character. Hints of peated malts along with a decent toasted aroma and a hint of cocoa.
T: Things are pretty similar on the palate. Sweet caramel, toffee, and bread make up the bulk of the flavor profile. The peatiness is there, but is somewhat mild/subdued, which I appreciate. Nice and toasty with a hint of roast.
M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation.
O: Really unoffensive in every way, though nothing about it stood out. It did have a nice maltiness, though, which I could appreciate.

On tap at The Big Cheese after a trip to More Beer in Riverside on 7/2/2010.
Pours bright red and clear with a fluffy white head that leaves a bit of lacing and has a bit of retention.
Aroma is peaty/smokey, malty, and a little caramelly.
Flavor is a decent balance between the malty sweetness and the peat/roast. Its hard to tell though where the smoke flavor stops and the roast starts. I guess thats a good thing but its confusing. The caramel adds to the complexity and in my opinion the authenticity of the beer.
Body is medium and pretty drinkable. This is my favorite beer from these guys so far.
