Rather timid flavors, as you'd hope from a classic Brown. It does has a bigger dose of hops than usual and a slight bitter aftertaste. Hard to tell about the alleged Belgian connection. There is something besides the hops, a touch of fruit, coffee grounds. Seems like they topped the keg off with some of their Hefeweizen. Slight spicy maltiness.
Slightly interesting, but the grainy flavor is not my favorite. We've all been spoiled by Karl Strauss and Dogfish Head with their brown Belgian-like ales.

On-tap at The Big Cheese
A: Lighter in color than I was expecting. Amber at best, not really brown at all. A white head sits on top.
S: Lots of bready malt aromas with a nice toffee and caramel note. There is perhaps just a hint of vanilla in there as well as a touch of dark chocolate. Slightly nutty as well with a banana smell to it.
T: Sweet malts all the way through in the form of toffee and caramel. Quite bready with a nice toasted note and a slight nuttiness. Mild chocolate and banana along with a little bit of spice.
M: Light in body with a moderate level of carbonation.
O: I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Not bad at all, probably one of their better beers.

Sampled 4/2/2011 at the brewpub.
Pours clear dark brown/red with a thin off-white head that lasts but doesnt lace the glass.
Aroma is bread, nuts, a touch of chocolate, banana, and caramel. Nice but sweet and more like a nut brown than a Belgian beer.
Flavor is very Belgian (both banana and spicy) but also sweet, bready, a bit heavy, nutty, a touch roasty, maybe even a bit rasiny, and over all just a bit too involved.
Body is fairly light, drinkable and enjoyable but a bit calorie ladden.
