The cherries are a nice addition, but they tend to cover up the double barrel notes instead of being in balance with them. Still like good old VSOJ significantly more than this VSOJ varient.

On draft. Darker caramel brown body. Smell is light cherry skin, big viscous caramel and toffee, light rye spiciness, medium whiskey. It is a big earthy barleywine with a lot of caramel and a dab of rye spice and cherry. Full bodied, thick and almost too syrupy- but not quite there. I found this one to be very enjoyable as I had initially worried that the cherry would be too much, but it is more of a background supporter here adding a bit of fruit on top of the big caramel-forward barleywine.

On tap at EBF in Boston, MA.
This one pours a clear light amber color, with no head or lacing.
This smells like maraschino cherries, booze, simple syrup, caramel, and oak.
This is quite boozy, and very thin, but there are definitely some very interesting flavors going on. There's lots of rye, and sweet caramel, with candied maraschino cherry and the juice. There's a spicy oak character, that almost feels fusel. It's quite sweet, but decent enough in small doses.
This is kind of thin, and a little syrupy, with a lower level of carbonation.
This is a fun beer, but regular Straight Jacket is considerably better.

Sweet cherry, caramel, bourbon, brown sugar, slightly higher carb than non-cherry, light rye, vanilla, alcohol hidden well from the cherry addition but still prefer the complexity of the non cherry
