Cold Time is a clean, flavorful Premium Lager brewed for the moment we can reward ourselves with an ice-cold beer. Made with pure water from the Great Lakes, Midwest two-row barley, Mexican lager yeast, and a touch of German hops before it's brewed low & slow, then mellowed in our tanks for four weeks. Cheers to quality time, spent with quality people, over a quality beer. Take back your time!

Revolution Brewing Cold Time

CORRECTION - No added honey

Revolution Brewery Taproom (Chicago, ILL) Notes: $6 + tax 16 oz draft, 4.9% ABV. Lager - American

Appearance: 16 oz draft nonic pour. Clear golden straw base, faint trickling carbonation, bright white creamy head leaves fine lacing. 4.25

Aroma: Faint honey and Wonder bread. 3.5

Taste: Really getting a nice honey taste, texture and flavor front and center. It is one of my favorite flavors, love when I can find honey flavored beers, especially well brewed like this one. Nice grain malt, bread, though more wheat, no Wonder. Hops flavor natural, not added per their Taproom Manager. The malty 2 row malt flavor is great as well. Sounds simple, and to my tastes it is, but simplicity packed with enjoyable flavors. Really digging this. 4.5

Mouthfeel: Fizzy persistent adds depth to this light to medium body. Honey not added, but perceived rich and creamy. Drinks at the ABV, carbonation heavy which is slowing me down from gulping this all down in a few attempts. Honey lingers in the aftertaste. 4.75

Overall: Remember that time they tapped Cold Time at Revolution? That was awesome. Really need to keep this as a rotational offering. It’s so good. If you like a nice lager bursting with flavor, the traditional malt taste and honey flavor profile really works well. 4.75 NBW 126 WBAYDN 3710 12/17/22

Clear gold with strong effervescence and large, dense white head. Crisp, lightly sulfury aroma. A kiss of lightly-fruity sweetness added to the taste; dull, earthy bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied with lively, fairly prickly carbonation. Solid brew.

Aroma is slightly macro sweet malts/adjuncts and a hint of zesty hops. The flavor is fruit/berries, malts/grains/possibly corn and a mildly sweet/zesty hop finish.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a small head of white foam. The head has a moderate level of retention, fading over time and leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of a sweet grainy smell with the sweet flavors being mainly of a corn and caramel mixed with a bit of hay and earth.
Taste – The taste begins with a caramel and corn sweetness as may have been anticipated from the nose. Along with these comes a showing of some cracker and doughy malt. There is a touch of earthy hop which adds a nice backdrop. As the taste advances, the sweet increases a bit while the hop and malt decay a bit, all while hints of metal and paper come into the tongue taking the taste to its end and leaving one with a slightly sweeter lager, almost malt liquor like taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body is light with a medium carbonation level.
Overall – A decent lager overall. Sweeter and more malt like with a easy nature.

12oz can, dated 03.26.2025, poured into a 16oz tumbler glass. Enjoyed on 04.12.2025, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a bright golden color, straw hues, very clear with lots of bubbles rising up the glass, foamy white head, good retention and nice soapy lacing. The aroma is pleasant, pale grain, biscuit malt, doughy, mineral water, bitter green hop, lightly floral and grassy. The flavors are good, lots of pale cereal grains, lightly sweet with grassy hop, light bitter pine, citrus peel, somewhat floral with a mineral water finish. The mouthfeel is good, coating, lively and vibrant lighter medium body, crisp and dry finish.

Verdict: A solid pale lager from Revolution. Easy, crisp, balanced, refreshing.

I do not have the palette to tell the difference between this beer and Hamm's except this beer may finish a little sweeter. Revolution makes several great beers, but this one is worse than it's mass brewing counterparts.
If you want a good Revolution, then go with Anti Hero IPA or their many wonderful hero IPA varieties. If you want a good cheap lager, Miller High Life or Yeungling in bottles ice cold is the way to go.

Dinner Party gift of a six-pack from an old friend who's a big Rev fan. Canned 4-16-25, poured into a short Becher.

L -- Clear, pale yellow with a tall, sudsy white head.

S -- Light corn grits with DMS back.

T -- Light corn (though none reported in the recipe), light DMS, light spicy hops in the finish and aftertaste. Light citrus back with warming. Altogether rather smooth and clean -- some flavor, but nothing harsh like most AALs taste to me.

M -- Crisp to lightly syrupy mouthfeel with a light body.

O -- Probably better than the average AAL, but I still wonder why we need a copycat beer from a craft brewery. I consumed enough bland beer when I was young, this is not a style I look for.

Good beer with a bit of a sour taste. It's a mellow sour though, slight, not pronounced, but does creep in at the finish. I am guessing the Mexican yeast is responsible for this, but I am not a brewer. Carbonation is excellent, very good mouthfeel, looks good, smells good and tastes good as long you aren't upset by higher malt and relatively low hops in your lighter lager beers. The hops are there and provide a quick fresh zip, but the malty funk at the end washes the hops out of the picture pretty quickly. For fans of maltier or Vienna style lagers, this is probably a sure thing.

draft pour into clear plastic cup. pours a cloudy gold with almost two fingers of bright white foam head. sweet, bready malt on the nose. taste follows with some earthy hops to go along with the malts. medium-full mouthfeel but not quite as crisply carbonated as i had hoped for. still very good. excellent summertime drinker. hope to see more of this on draft in my area.
