Poured from 500mL can into a tall kitchen glass. Best by 3/28/23.
Appearance: light golden hue with a totally clear body, a light effervescence, and two fingers of very frothy white foam. I think it looks pretty darn good!
Smell: a little bit of malt and hops, but there's also a very plastic-y adjunct aroma, perhaps something like rice? It doesn't quite work for me.
Taste: better than the aroma would lead me to believe, with a decent bit of malt up front and a pretty solid hopping, However, as the flavor develops, there's more of that adjunct character that I don't love -- not out of place in a pale lager, necessarily, but it doesn't especially work for me.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a big carbonation and decent creaminess.
Overall: aside from that main flavor issue, particularly present in the aftertaste, this is a relatively refreshing and drinkable beer.

Borsodi, though being a "staple" brewery in Hungary, is one of the worst commercial brewers for making the worst quality Euro Pale Lagers. Now they came up with this Mester and claim that they used no corn or nothing else, just pure hops, malts and yeast. And maybe you can feel that, that it's missing that sickness from the taste that gives you a headache straight away. Good idea to try and make a pure beer Borsodi, next time you could try re-thinking the recipe as well...

Ps. Not a bad beer at all in 2024. Or maybe it is just me, getting older.
