A glorious beer.
I can only hope that Firestone tries this style again.
It's smoky, tart, thick in consistency, and potent (11 percent).
I can definitely grasp the tequila undertones which are mellowed by the stout's robust and stomach-settling flavor.
I was going to order an Ipswich Oatmeal Stout but the bartender steered me this way, saying they were one of only six establishments in the nation to have received a barrel of this highly unusual beer. I'm glad I tried it. After my first sip I said "Wow" so loud the bartender came back to make sure everything was okay.
Since this is a one-time, limited beer, I guess all I can say is that I hope more breweries start aging stout in similarly unique oak barrels.

So much Mezcal which works perfectly with the base beer. This from someone who usually does not dig smoked beers.

Pours a dark brown/caramel color. Nose has hints of smoke with fruit and vanilla. Tastes starts off smokey but as it warms up more fruit comes out. Finishes with a lot of smoke. Super smooth and no heat.

Poured a slate black with barely any head, rim of the glass showed a thin caramel colored ring around the edge. Beer was served in a short pint on top of it's own special coaster, making it painfully obvious how much marketing went into this beer, yet somehow nobody heard of it. Smell was smokey and nutty like a glass of mezcal, on top of roasted malt. The taste though, was super complex: Boozy dark fruits and heavy smokiness from the mezcal, and then a sweeter vanilla note from the bourbon barrel, finishing with a dry cocoa. It's weird how earlier I was trying to trade for PNC and then not 3 hours later a super-limited near-clone of that beer just falls into my lap? Denver is crazy.

The beer smells amazing, definitely a strong bourbon aroma and taste in the beginning. As it settles the smokiness picks up a lot in both aroma and taste. I quite enjoyed the beer, though if you are not a fan of beers with smokey flavors this probably isn't for you then.

If you don't like smokey beers you will not like this. Little bit of the parabola taste at the end but the majority of flavor is pure smoke with a
Good amount of barrel.

Pours midnight black with a thin tan head which clings to the stars.
Mezcal, smoke and bourbon up front on initial pour when cold.
Smoke increases with the spice on warming along with bakers chocolate.
Lots of herbal greeeness from the agave cactus.
Mezcal dominates the mouthfeel and finish with some chalky powder.
On warming getting char and smoke.
Overall - quite something.
