Palate Contaminants: other beer
Color is dark orange. Not a whole lot of lacing. Very slightly opaque, if that makes sense.
Smell is lots of candied stuff that takes a while to untangle. A little bit of it is candied citrus, and a little bit is candied apple, and a little bit is nondescript Jolly Ranchers, and a little bit is candied brett— Okay, that one's weird, but unique.
Main fruit is apple, and it's more sour – like, actually sour – than what usually gets that label. Some pear and blueberry in there, too. Moderate-heavy sweetness. And it's almost salty and bitterness is always present somewhere in lighter brews, so I suppose only umami is missing. Odd combinations all around, but it's plenty palatable.
Coarse carbonation, but it's not prickly. Sweet and sour aftertaste that's somehow mildly astringent.
It might not have got my highest numbers, but it is interesting.
