Black, huge head 5
Coconut, marshmallow, chocolate. Pungent.
Chocolate cake but not pastry, there's bite, rich but a tad too cakey. Not getting much barrel or liquor.
Touch to syrup/batter.

On-tap at the actual brewery in Paso. Ordered it early and let it warm up to open up. The masterpiece that is Parabola amplified by cocoa nibs and coconut. As easy as that. Chocolate flavor and coconut mellow come out in the finish. Very tasty but a bit boozy and raw in the end.

4.09/5: A great Parabola variant; strikes a deft balance between an old-school RIS and a new-school pastry stout

12 oz bottle into a snifter.
Jet-black appearance, scant lacing or head. Toasty, oaky aromas, coffee notes and unsweetened cocoa. Big chocolate notes on the palate, touches of carob and anise add depth. Medium finish, bittersweet.
Another delicious BBA from FW, although loses some points because the toasted coconut is nowhere to be found.

2020 Bottle
Appearance: Dark brown bordering on Black (appears very dark brown at the edges if held up to a light). The beer has has a medium sized dark brown head which slowly faded to a ring.
Smell: Moderate Bourbon, chocolate, and mild coconut come through, followed by some brown sugar notes. Nice smelling beer.
Taste: Following the nose I get moderate Bourbon notes, chocolate notes along with some faint coconut notes. I also get some drying oak notes, and roast malts in the finish is which is fairly dry. Very slight alcohol presence in the finish very subtle for the ABV.
Mouth-feel: Medium to full bodied with a medium level of carbonation appropriate tor the style.
Overall: A nice Parabola variant. The chocolate and coconut additions are nice additions to the base Parabola and bring some additional complexity to the base Parabola taste profile.

On tap at Spokeasy Public House
A: Pours dark brown nearly black with a frothy khaki head that settles to a thin layer and laces nicely.
S: Opens with big molasses and dark sugar, smooth bourbon, roasty, dark chocolate, char, and coffee, earthy notes, a little vanilla and spice, and just a hint of coconut.
T: Roasty, a little char and faint smoke, dark chocolate, coffee, big dark sugar, bourbon, faint vanilla, some spice, earthy, molasses, touch of oak, and subtle toasted coconut that comes out a little more as it warms, especially on the finish.
M: Full body, moderately soft carbonation, just a touch of warmth, but not unpleasant. Holds it's ABV really well.
O: Cool variant of one of my favorite imperial stouts. Wasn't sure how much coconut they would throw at it, but I think they got it just about right. Nice accent. Doesn't beat you over the head announcing it's presence or throw off the balance of the base beer.

Had on tap. Loving the parabola variants being more easily available now! Shimmering pitch black body with a thin brown cap. Smells strongly of various chocolates, coconut, vanilla, bourbon slight smoke, leather and molasses too. Taste enmeshes the title flavors into both the barrel and the base parabola flavors very well. Wood stands out nicely as a counter to the growing sweetness, earth and slight smoke too. Finishes so clean and balanced. Feel is robust yet smooth, doesn't get too sweet in the taste and part of that is because the body does well to hold that sweetness in a complex matrix. Great variant

On tap at Brew Bank Topeka. Poured an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of chocolate, toasted coconut, oak, vanilla and booziness. Bourbon taste dominates with lots of chocolate and malt. The coconut is present but muted.
