Unfiltered Pale Ale
5% Abv.
On Cask
Appearance=Minimal Carbonation, leaves nice cascading rings as the beer goes down. Pours a nice 2 finger creamy white head. More head than I would have thought on Cask. Cloudy appearance from cask. Deep yellow color.
Smell= Good smell. Hops immediately present, yet not overpowering. I get a little bit of citrus. Overall, very nice.
Taste= Very tasty. Citrus. Did I say tasty? Doesn't leave a huge aftertaste.
Mouthfeel= Almost velvety. Nice and smooth. I wouldn't say it's crisp, it's smooth.
Drinkability= High on drinkability. Abv is low which makes for a nice session beer. Nothing is out of balance. I'm enjoying it more than the regular pale.

Poured from cask at Spikes.
Poured a nice cloudy yellow with lots of sediment. A good cask pour with creaminess and big head. Nose was muted hops and citrus. Taste was muted to me. I am huge fan of cask beers but I believe some beers are meant for cask ad some are not. I preferred the bigger hoppiness, citrus and floral notes of the bottle and regualar tap. Thats just me and my taste though. Still a good brew.

Had this on cask at Spike's tonight with my fellow wisemen anda number of other BAs. Reviewed by Wisemen Nick, Justin, and Zach. Jorge was in attendance, but chose not to join us.
Poured into a mug.
Appearance: Hazy pale gold with tight, nitro-like creamy, off-white, two finger head that takes forever to die down. No visible carbonation (as expected). Lacing is incredible: thick, creamy notches form a time-line of resting points on the walls of the glass. Justin claims it's the best lacing he's ever seen! "Head is like Christmas morning!" N: 4.5; J: 5.0; Z: 4.5
Smell: Pine, lemony hops, dough, and oak/wood. Smells milder, yet oilier, than I remember regular Pale 31 being. N: 4.0; J: 4.0; Z: no score
Taste: Smooth bready malts, lemon, spices, earth, and woody, resinous hops. Much smoother/milder than expected. Finishes very balanced, maybe even a bit on the malty side. Lacks that sharp, tart finish found in regular 31, but that could be due to the missing artificial carbonation. N: 4.0; J: 4.0; Z: 4.0
Mouthfeel: Thicker than normal Pale 31, with much lower carbonation. Coats the mouth well; flavors linger for a looong time. Not really creamy or sticky, but a bit oily and smooth. Lacks crispness. N: 3.5; J: 3.5; Z: 4.0
Drinkability: Chuggability is 5.0, easy. This went down quick. Lacks that Pale 31 bite, but (almost) makes up for it in drinkability. N: 4.5; J: 4.5; Z: 4.0
