Notes from FW14 release in Paso Robles:

Poured into snifter/taster glass a hazy orangish brown with little carbonation. Smells of funky brett yeast, oak, and fruit. Taste is tart with sour cherry and a tannin bite. Somewhat singular in tone rather than complex or layered. Mouthfeel is sour and a bit puckering with a semi throat-clenching finish. Overall, a DBA-based brett miracle from the makers of barrel-aged monsters. This was only the second time poured ever according to Matt and was aged for 2-yrs. Just delicious.

Following review is based on notes taken by Wiseman Nick at the Firestone 14 Release in Paso Robles, CA.

Served in a small (~5oz.) FW snifter.

Appearance: Cloduy orange-amber body with a loose, white, bubbly cap. Light, spotty lacing. Decent head retention.

Smell: Cherry lemonade, strawberries, honey, and assertive bret tartness. Well put together, but not too complex.

Taste: Sour cherry lemonade, caramelized grains, and a touch of earth (in the finish). Bret tartness was intense, and even ramped up in the aftertaste! One of the most sour beers I've come across. Damn!

Mouthfeel: Really tart, acidic, lightly carbonated, light-bodied, and a bit oily.

Drinkability: The bold sourness made this a favorite at yesterday's event. At the same time, it would have been much easier to down if it weren't quite so tart.
