If its true that blondes do have more fun, then Firestone Walker makes sure that they have plenty of fun on hand. Rum barrels and coconut are just a few of the bells and whistles to keep the fun coming.
Pouring pale and golden peach, the moderately hazy Rum Barrel Cocorado carries a dainty white froth and an ether soaked scent of caramel, spice, coconut, honey and tropical fruit. As a sweeter tone strikes the palate, its malty upstart of honey and praline set the stage for a malty-sweet session ahead.
While the simmering sweetness steps aside for the warming taste of rum, a fruitier taste of peach, apricot, mango and papaya all carry a tropical character, just to be interrupted by the strong rummy spice of ethanol, peppercorn, tannic oak and faint holiday spice. With a long sweet and spicy taste late on the palate, the coconut, vanilla and honey does little to offset the strength of booze.
Full bodied, sweet and spicy, the blond barleywine finishes prickling due to its head and abrasive on the throat in an unnecessary and abrupt way. A long and vapor laden sense of spiced rum proves too much for the balance of even this strong blond beer.

Orange, very very little foam.
Not getting much other than alcohol.
Fruit helps, I'm getting notable coconut flavor but, like the smell, it's overwhelmingly ethanol to me.
Piercing, definitely a sipper.

Bottle pour- murky and turbid dark copper/amber with short whiteish head leaving a ring of tiny bubbles. Nose is perfumey with a boozy sweetness. Taste follows with coconut and barrel wood that linger on the finish. Not sure if this treatment compliments the OG barleywine....actually it doesn't. Slightly too sweet.
