Brewed in collaboration with Half Acre Beer Co. The recipe pairs a decoction mash of an Austrian barley variety over 100 years old with old-world Hersbrucker and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops. Italian-inspired, but with elements of Czech and German Pilsner.

Aroma is huge beery/grainy/husky malts and mild/medium sweetness. The flavor is slight fruit, mildly sweet/grainy/husky malts and a crisp/bitter noble hop finish.

Can poured into a Firestone Walker Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours golden straw with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves some nice slightly spotty lacing.
S: Grassy, herbal, faintly earthy, light lemony citrus zest, a bit floral, and grainy crackery malt.
T: Floral, grassy herbal tones, light lemony citrus, a touch of spice, subtle fruity notes, and slightly grainy crackery malt.
M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, crisp, fairly dry.
O: I'm far from a Pilsner expert, but this one checks the boxes for me. It's hitting the spot during a wicked streak of high 100°+ weather and must have been just as refreshing in the sun at the FW Invitational. Not something I'd normally gravitate towards, but I definitely wouldn't turn it down.

Light golden color. Faintly bready, grassy aroma. Taste is a bit grassy with a touch of bread and lemon. Body is fairly light. Not a standout pilsner but definitely a beer I'll keep drinking if I can find it.

As a Half Acre lover, maybe I expected too much? Pretty average. I like more bite and taste in my Pilsners. I know Firestone Walker has a highly regarded Pils, but this isn't much better than standard options available year round.

Can Notes: 6/1/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) - Purchased from Beer on the Wall 5/24/24 for $2.27 at store temperature, refrigerated upon returning home until opening. 12 oz canned 4/26/24 at 12:00:39 AM (WTF?), 5.0% ABV. 2024 Invitational Collaboration crafted with our friends Half Acre. Brewed by Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Paso Robles, California, USA.
Appearance: Poured first half of can in slender tall pilsner glass. Clear straw color, sustained light to mild carbonation, generous head leaves mild clumpy lacing and a light cover over part of the base. 4.0
Aroma: Poured the rest of the can to yield a better aroma attempt and glad I did. Very nice bread cracker lemongrass, Strong and even more pleasant. 4.5
Taste: Consistent with aroma, nice cracker and bread, grassy, mild salt and pepper. Dialed back in terms of strength, but enough for enjoyment and a bit of wanting even more. 4.0
Mouthfeel: Light easy crisp, crushable. Lightly dry, sustained lightly prickly carbonation, nice hops malt balance, light dry cracker finish. 4.25
Overall: This is a solid offering, wish this was a 16 oz or that I had more than one. Met high expectations coming in for a Firestone Walker Pilsner. Wish I was enjoying this at the Festival vs. a cool rainy day in Chicago. Buy with confidence. 4.25

s: bready, floral

o: It's a nice pilsner from two highly respected breweries. Not sure I would be keen on repeat servings but I enjoyed it.

I had this on draft 5/14/24 @ the Hopleaf.
Mostly see-through orange apperance.
Small off-white head; nice lacing remained.
Soft vanilla, pine & floral notes in the nose.
Medium thin mouthfeel.
Pine, artisanal soap & fresh flower flavors; bold but maybe not so balanced.
Interesting, for sure, but I didn't totally love it.
