Pours a dark brown with slight reddish hue if held up to light. Aroma is straightforward - nuttiness, caramel, bourbon and hint of roastiness. Taste betters aroma. Rich and flavorful combination of hazelnut, roasted oak, caramel and bourbon. Mouthfeel is on light side of medium. Wish it was fuller. Overall a tasty brown ale.

Look - Basically black with nice lacing
Smell and taste - woody caramel char and some rye. That smell is a step above
Feel - medium full body and a medium light carb
Overall - yum

2025 vintage, into a snifter.
Pours a dark brown with lingering tan foam. Aroma is deep nuttiness and a lot of bourbon, like a ton of bourbon. Flavor is similar. There's a brown ale underneath everything which lends a lot of hazelnut and roastiness, but it's really all about bitter oak and vanilla. There's a lot going on here, and it's all just barrel paired with a complementary base ale. It feels like BCBS in the best way, since I can tell there's a very rich, malty brown ale present, but the caliber of bourbon barrel and depth of aging comes through perfectly. The rye aging comes in as a fruity cocoa note, alongside the earthy oak and sweet vanilla, and there's a good bitterness on the finish to balance everything out. Feel is good, surprisingly highly carbonated but still very heavy and a little boozy, but no ethanol.
Overall a very well done BBA strong ale that stands out from most stouts. Firestone Walker does it again with a beer that's incredibly unique and is very well done all around.

Very dark brown, some white foam.
Roasted malt, sorta nutty.
Caramel stands out most, light on sweetness, heavier on roast/char. Some wood & liquor but both background, IMO.
Notable bite & medium body, just what I was looking for.

12 oz bottle into a snifter
Regardless of how this brew is categorized, it belong in a tulip or snifter. Dark, cola brown ale, little carbonation.
Nose is all caramel and sugar cookies, far amount of oak. A bit of pit fruit on the palate, but super bourbon-y and caramelly. Closer to a BBA stout than a brown ale, but who cares? Delicious…

Pours a dark brown to almost black in color. Little tan head that fades to a ring around the glass at the top of the beer. Lacing is present, looks a bit like a coating on the glass. Nose is whiskey. Taste is a soft whiskey, nothing offensive.
