Label says it's brewed with mesquite smoked malt and aged in Dark Burnt Sienna color with a brief foam in the New Belgium snifter. Sort of sour, but mostly the teeth on edge feeling. Some dirty malt taste. Maybe there is some smoke as well. Woody smell with something tart.
The dishwatery aftertaste won't win any friends. Just because you CAN use a yeastey-bacterial stew to make beer, doesn't mean you SHOULD. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham. Just over a year old, brewed in 3/2015 and given six months in the barrel. It sounds so good on paper, and it might have been an interesting beer if they'd resisted the urge to infect it.
