Very excited about this beer.

This beer pours a nice dark beer. A very faint aroma of coffee. Taste is very good, chocolate, coffee. Mouthfeel is very interesting. This beer has a somewhat thick body, and has some sweetness. At the same time, it is kind of very light, like any other porter. This beer could be a light oatmeal stout. Not much acidity though.

This beer could greatly benefit from barrel aging.

Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at Cycle tasting room. Served in a snifter.

A: Very dark brown, essentially opaque, with a thin tan head and low visible carbonation.

S: Roasted malts over background of cacao. Not a ton of aroma - smells like a clean lager (semantic arguments aside).

T: Roasted malts, clean lager yeast with no fruity esters, dark chocolate flavors, and a mild hop and roast bitterness with the chocolate malt sweetness in the hang.

M: Medium to a bit heavy body for style, alcohol well-hidden, and carbonation on the low side.

O: This was a solid Baltic porter and very drinkable. It was served on the cold side, and had to warm somewhat for the flavors to really open up. But a very good beer. I understand Doug's reticence to make this even on rotation given the fermentation requirements, but it's one I would look forward to if he ever did. Recommended.
