On-tap at Peg's. Served in a snifter on March 9, 2012. Reviewed from notes.
Appearance - Black with a much lighter-colored head than the other BA beers on tap today. Recedes to a tan ring.
Smell - Barrel again. All of these have had a nice barrel character. More roasted notes in this one than the others. A significant amount of the porter shines through the barrel. Roasted coffee aroma.
Taste - Vanilla, bourbon and fudgy chocolate. Nice coffee finish. I'm impressed how well this porter stood up to the barrel. Better than the Batch 100 did, really. Kick of alcohol in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Lighter than the others. Low carbonation like the others. Boozy, but that could be the fresh barrel.
Overall - Good, better than the Batch 100. A tasty beer, although the flavor drops off just a bit in the finish.

Draft at the cantina.
Pours pitch black and opaque with a one finger beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Sporadic pots of lacing left behind.
Amazing aroma with a perfect balance of barrel character and dark malt notes. Sweet and spicy bourbon along with vanilla, toasted coconut and dry oak followed by toffee, fudge, chocolate cake, coffee bean, hazelnut and caramel. One of the best smelling beers I've come across. Just an incredible nose!
Flavor doesn't quite live up to the nose but it's pretty close. Again, there's a really nice balance of bourbon barrel and dark malts. Strong sweet and spicy bourbon along with some vanilla, marshmallow and coconut as well as some dry toasted oak. Underneath, there is some decadent chocolate fudge flavor along with hazelnut, toffee, coffee bean(but not acrid or roasty) caramel and cream. Really well balanced with a decently masked abv. Some slight heat but very complex and easy to drink. Delicious.
