oddly i somehow thought this would be more of a saison type, clear as it says pale, i wanted to believe it. never heard of the collaborator this time, but looking them up i wish i had, brazil, looks rad. this isnt crazy good, but its a modern hazy and liberally dry hopped, but done with coconut and cassava apparently. i feel like i know cassava to either be in root or in powder form, and in this case it seems like the starchy powder, this is thick and dense and murky and not real appealing looking, sort of sludgy to me, pale and all, but it feels that way when i drink it too. its fuller than it should be, starchy and thick, and the dry hopping of green melon rind and mango sort of overtakes any nuance, certainly very little from the ferment, which, like prairie who came up with these guys, and others, i still always sort of go back to hoping they still make yeast forward beers, but i am let down almost every time now. tastes have changed but mine havent, lame. cassava seems like an agent for body, maybe something nutritive, and its cool in a very subtle way here, but it doesnt make this unique on its own, the beer is almost painfully samey even with it, much to its detriment. its just something cloudy and hoppy and on trend, even though it could be a lot more. i make a point to keep up with stillwater, but sometimes i long for the old stamped cardboard four pack days...
