750 mL bottle. Pours deep red and totally flat. Smells of sour cherry and vinous notes. Tastes of deep cherry tartness. No sweet cherry flavor here at all, which is a total contrast to the Kriek Toast we had before this. A little bit of oak and dried grass comes through, but deep sour cherry lingers in the finish. Flat. The cherry flavor is savory and isn't very pleasant. I am disappointed.

A 750ml corked and caged bottle, blend n°18, season 17/18, bottled on 24th January 2018, with a best before date of 26th October 2038. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A slightly hazy deep ruby red colour with pretty much no head and no lacing.
Aroma: Lightly tart, sweet and sour, cherry, marzipan, wood, and light funk.
Taste: Sour, tart, cherry, almond, oak, with light funk and slight apple cider vinegar notes.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with soft carbonation (almost still).
Overall: It was enjoyable especially the aroma, but I do prefer some carbonation. I know the blend was accidental, but I prefer the regular Schaarbeekse Kriek and Oude Kriek separately as opposed to this blend.

3 Fonteinen Oude Kriek + Schaarbeekse
I just had 3 Fonteinen Oude Kriek + Schaarbeekse imported from Belgium, ABV 6.60%, in my backyard. Notice, this is not the same as the Oude Kriek Schaarbeekse, the "+" makes it different. This Lambik is actually a mistake as 3 Fonteinen Oude Kriek was accidentally blended with 3 Fonteinen Schaarbeekse Kriek. Only 880 bottles were made (in 2018) but therefore it is also very exclusive and very hyped and a collectors item. Considering the hype and the praise as well as the high price I paid I expected a lot. However, I can think of a couple of Lambics from 3 Fonteinen that I liked better. It is a great Lambic, don't get me wrong, but you may not want to pay hundreds of dollars for it (in my opinion). It still deserves a good scores but not a perfect one.
Look: dark red slightly purple with an almost non-existent white head that disappears quickly
Aroma: tart raspberry
Taste: Lots of sweet and tart cherry, slight oaky red-wine like tannin after taste
Body/Overall: full body for a Lambic, thick, silky
