So this is like a sherry barrel gueuze. Ok, explains the higher than usual abv.
Pours an orange like color with 1/3" white head. The aroma hits that familiar lambic minerality, and this one leans older giving it more of a blended gueuze feel than young lambic. That ain't a bad thing in my book. Some like it hot, which is slightly noticeable here.
The taste and mouthfeel put some of that dark fruit sherry like notes up front, noticeably higher alcohol heat all around, slight burn. Boozy prune and dark cherry influence bug wise it seems. Is the carbonation higher or is it just that blast of barrel like heat contributing to the sensation? Many things feel amped up here, alcohol, sourness, acidity, age, etc. . .
This is yet again another beer I was plenty happy to have sampled rather than drop $50/750ml. Good, but not necessarily my cup of lambic. But if you're into traditional styles through a slightly extreme funnel, why not. Mr. Perfect will never be forgotten. He was the perfect friend.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, Oude Kriek (season 19|20) Blend No. 75, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.3%. Hazy red colour, no head. Aroma of sour cherries, cherry kernels, farmhouse, oak and a hint of peat. The flavour has sour cherries, lemons and brettanomyces galore, also oak and a hint of peat.

A 750ml corked and caged bottle, blend°75, season 19/20, bottled on 9th September 2020. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A nice very lightly hazy but deep ruby red colour with a very thin pinkish white head that really didn’t want to form, while leaving only sparse spotty lacing.
Aroma: Slightly tart, cherry, cherry skin, oak, with light notes of almond and maybe sherry.
Taste: Sour, tart, cherry, cherry skin, sharp lemon acidity, oak, sherry, a touch of minerals, with some almond in the background.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: This was pretty similar to the regular Oude Kriek, although the carbonation was too soft. There was also supposed to be lambic from peated sherry barrels, but unlike the Oude Geuze Geturfd, while I felt there was some sherry, this peat was near non-existent in the aroma or flavour. An interesting experiment, but I don’t think it improved on the original Oude Kriek.

750 mL bottle. Deep red, no bubbles. Smells of oak, earthy cherry, a little sherry. Tastes of strong cherry. Deep, earthy, only hints of sweetness. Sherry comes through strong in the back end. Oak, vinous flavors. No carbonation, which is a shame. The sherry adds a really nice flavor to the cherry, which is just about as sour as I can handle. Dynamic and complex, if a little tough to drink.
