A 750ml corked and caged bottle, blend°36, season 20/21, bottle 227/592, bottled on 16th March 2021. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A lightly hazy golden colour with a half finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly to a ring around the glass while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Tart, spritzy, Riesling vinous, green vines, woody, light funk.
Taste: Lightly sour, white wine vinous, Riesling, grape skin, lemon zest, leather, green vines, woody, funk.
Mouthfeel: Dry, medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Good enjoyable aroma and flavours that made it really easy to drink.

Mostly clear orange-amber with a short off-white head settling to a somewhat persistent, bubbly blanket in a Cantillon lambic glass.
And with that in mind, I'm trying to be cognizant of the fact that the glassware could be playing mind games with me, but I actually get more gassy gueuze characteristics here to start, which I typically associate with Cantillon. That then recedes to a mildly seedy pungent funk brightened by a beautiful yet subtle riesling presence. The grapes impart an unusual sweetness not often found in lambic, which seems to actually mitigate the acidity substantially. With time I almost get a minty aspect in the exhale, but this then warps into hints of cedar.
The medium body starts off slick but becomes softly crisp before vanishing into a bone dry swallow.
Fantastic.
