In January 2020, we went to the traditional sherry region in the south of Spain to source our own sherry barrels for our Zenne y Frontera projects.
And that is how we found the bodega of Josefa Pérez Rosado. In a small barrel room, just behind the Iglesia de Santiago, right in the heart of the village of Jerez de la Frontera, we had the honour to meet and talk with the Perez family. Only one fifth of the barrels was left, as the bodega had ceased operations. From those remaining barrels, we tasted and selected the best ones to move to our barrel room. While selecting the barrels for the next series of Zenne y Frontera, we chose the most outspoken ones to make a series of single barrel sherry lambikken.
For this one, we chose an Oloroso barrel that held sherry for more than 33 years and most probably for over 40 years. We put two jonge lambikken that have aged for over a year on the barrel, before being bottled. The weighted average age of the lambikken while bottling was 26 months.

Back check in, one of four Zenne single barrel sherry lambic at share. Light straw bronze appearance with light head that recedes quickly to a collar around the edge. Soft oak, sherry, grape skin, lemon, funk. Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft and silky on the tongue. Privileged to have tasted.
